Ivy Tech Community College honored Beth Pearison of Sullivan, Indiana, as one of 18 individuals across the state selected to receive the 2022 Distinguished Alumni Award, the highest honor given to recognize Ivy Tech Alumni. Selected through a highly competitive process, each recipient has made a lasting impact on their community and on Ivy Tech through outstanding professional, philanthropic, or volunteer accomplishments.

“These individuals exemplify service and leadership in extraordinary ways,” said Ivy Tech President Dr. Sue Ellspermann. “Our distinguished alumni prove that an Ivy Tech education equates to career fulfillment and economic prosperity, and I am honored to witness how the College has played a role in their continued lifelong success.”

Mary Diel, a member of the imaging sciences faculty at Ivy Tech, nominated Beth Pearison for her work ethic and service to the community. “Beth is an outstanding person both professionally and personally,” wrote Diel. “She was hired at Union Hospital when she graduated from the imaging program at Ivy Tech in 2018 and has quickly moved into a supervisor position. She is respected by her peers and admired by those she manages.”

Beth has remained connected to Ivy Tech and currently serves on the Terre Haute Alumni Council. Melanie Castle, associate professor of imaging sciences at Ivy Tech, also submitted a nomination for Beth, noting that she has asked Beth to speak to current Ivy Tech students about her experience in the program and her profession.

“She handles herself like a professional and provides an exemplar example to those learning the profession,” Castle wrote in her nomination. “Beth’s grit and motivation to set goals and conquer them not only benefits her but also everyone around her, whether it is her community, her profession, or her previous instructors. She is a wonderful representation of the path of trajectory an Ivy Tech degree and support system can set.”

Beth earned her associate degree in general studies and medical imaging from Ivy Tech in 2018 and transferred her credits to earn her bachelor’s degree in radiology management from the University of Southern Indiana in 2019. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in health care administration through Purdue University Global. She serves as the supervisor of the imaging department at Union Health.

Alumni, faculty, staff, and friends are all encouraged to make nominations for the Distinguished Alumni Award. Awardees must be graduates of Ivy Tech, having received an Associate Degree, Technical Certificate, or Certificate.

The College has been honoring Distinguished Alumni since 1998.
