South Bend, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College South Bend-Elkhart will receive $275,000 in funding support from two donor groups. These funds will be unrestricted but focused on renovations to campus common areas and the growing automotive program.
Zolman’s Tire & Auto Care, Mishawaka, provided a gift to Ivy Tech naming six (6) bays in the automotive lab. The Zolman Bays house the opportunity for students to work on vehicles in this real-world training environment. Demand in the automotive career path continues to outpace the supply. Ivy Tech's Automotive Technology program teaches students how to operate, diagnose and repair today's high-tech vehicles. Students get hands-on experience with the latest diagnostic and repair equipment, learning critical skills in computer use and network communication. Zolman’s Tire & Auto Care has been a long-time scholarship provider for Ivy Tech Automotive students.
Dick and Donna Pfeil have agreed to a $250,000 donation which will name the student entryway at the South Bend campus. This anchor donation will support the renovation of this main gateway to campus. The Pfeil family continues to be a generous benefactor for the campus with multiple scholarships supporting Ivy Tech students.
“We are honored and thankful for the generosity of our donors,” said Patrick Englert, Chancellor, Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart. “The Pfeil’s and Zolman’s gifts continue to support Ivy Tech students as they seek the education to change their trajectory towards strong careers.”
