Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette proudly celebrated the induction of 15 exceptional students into Phi Theta Kappa – Alpha Sigma Kappa chapter on November 9th, 2023 during a ceremony held with friends and family. The ceremony, held at Ivy Hall, featured a program that included a keynote address by Dr. Aaron Baute, chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College-Lafayette.

 

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), the largest honor society in American higher education with more than 3.5 million members inducted since 1919, recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding academic excellence, leadership skills, and a commitment to service.

 

New members took the Oath of Membership, pledging their commitment to uphold the standards of Phi Theta Kappa by developing themselves through intellectual scholarship and leadership skills, all in service of their campus and community. Friends and family attended the event to support and celebrate the achievements of these outstanding students.

 

The officers, led by President Dillon Brandon, along with Vice President of Membership Travis Barrett and Vice President of Service Sarah Mull, joined chapter advisors Rebecca Wulf, Bryan Thompson, and Cher Richardson in extending a warm welcome to the newly inducted members of Phi Theta Kappa at Ivy Tech Community College in Lafayette.

Pushpa Toppo spoke at the event on behalf of the Ankit Foundation (https://www.ankitfoundationcorp.org/). This organization raises awareness mental health struggles of children, teenagers, and young adults. Phi Theta Kappa provided an honorary membership certificate in memory of Ankit Toppo.
