One in eight Americans face food insecurity nationwide, according to the United States Department of Agriculture, and our community continues to feel its impact.
More and more members of our community are turning to us for help in ensuring they know where their next meal will come from. Ivy Tech Indianapolis' IvyCares has seen a continued demand in the last year, and the resulting economic impact of our nation continues to bring great need and challenges to our community.
In response, we’re pleased to announce that IvyCares' food pantry has joined forces with the Meijer Simply Give hunger relief program during this difficult time to help fill that void for our local families.
Each Simply Give campaign helps more than 270 food pantries in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Wisconsin feed hungry families by keeping their shelves stocked with food for those in need. The campaign also fosters a sense of community by encouraging Meijer customers to add a $10 Simply Give donation card to their cart at checkout, which is then converted into a Meijer food-only gift card and given to the local food pantry selected by the store.
The IvyCares food pantry will benefit from donation cards at the Meijer store located at 5550 N. Keystone Ave. now through September 27.
Help us fulfill our mission of feeding the hungry in our Ivy Tech Indianapolis community by adding a food donation card to your cart during your next shopping trip at Meijer. Tell your friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers because every dollar makes a difference. Whether you shop in-store or online using Meijer Pickup or Home Delivery, consider adding a Simply Give donation card to your basket.
And when we give, Meijer gives. For every $10 Simply Give donation card a customer adds to their trip on Saturday, Aug. 16 and Sept. 13, Meijer will DOUBLE match the contribution, meaning they will contribute an additional $20. This means our pantry will receive a total of $30 on those days.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our neighbors in need.
