February Employee Spotlight: Thomas Taylor

How long have you worked for Ivy Tech?

It will be seven years on February 5.

What other positions have you held with the college?

Custodial/Events (two years) and currently on the Logistics/Moving Team (over four years)

Tell us about your team and what they do?

Logistics - We move furniture for some events and set-ups. We orchestrate office and classroom setups. Basically, any and everything you could think of, we handle.

What is your specific job on that team?

I am a team player and assist in any place my team needs me to be.

Tell us why you like working at Ivy Tech?

I like meeting new people, learning and achieving different tasks, and the staff here at Ivy Tech. With the help of my team, they make working fun and smooth.

What else would you like us to know about you?

I have taught myself graphic design. I like photography and hope to be able to own my own camera one day. l love watching movies and working with computers. The Indiana Pacers is my favorite basketball team. The most important thing to me is being a father to my daughter.

What is the Employee Spotlight?

The Monthly Employee Spotlight is an initiative by the Human Resources and Administration team at Ivy Tech Indianapolis designed to celebrate the individuals who contribute to our campus's vibrant and collaborative environment. Each month, an employee is randomly selected for recognition. With the support of their vice chancellor, the selected individual shares insights about their role, background, and personal motivations, fostering a deeper connection within our community.

This initiative replaced the “Employee of the Month” program, which faced challenges despite its positive intent. Inspired by employee feedback, the spotlight fosters connection and understanding across all departments, highlighting the unique contributions of faculty and staff. It’s a chance to celebrate the people who make our campus thrive.

By sharing these spotlights, we aim to highlight the diversity of roles and talents within our campus while aligning with the Ivy Tech's academic program spotlights. These features provide a unique opportunity for employees to connect and build camaraderie, showcasing the people who make Ivy Tech Indianapolis a remarkable place to work and learn.
