How long have you worked for Ivy Tech?
I've worked at Ivy Tech for almost two years.
What other positions have you held with the college?
I was an instructor for a very brief period before becoming the biotechnology program chair.
Tell us about your team and what they do.
The Biotechnology team is a great group of individuals with a lot of industry experience. The team is enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and extremely motivated to produce graduates who are well-qualified to be successful in their fields. Currently, we have one other full-time faculty member, six adjunct instructors, and a lab technician.
What is your specific role on that team?
I serve as the program chair.
Why do you enjoy working at Ivy Tech?
My favorite thing about working here is being able to help individuals be successful in their fields by sharing what I've learned over my career.
What else would you like us to know about you?
I play the bass, and I have a collection of 28 electric basses (the newest of which arrived yesterday from Japan).
What is the Employee Spotlight?
The Monthly Employee Spotlight is an initiative by the Human Resources and Administration team at Ivy Tech Indianapolis designed to celebrate the individuals who contribute to our campus's vibrant and collaborative environment. Each month, an employee is randomly selected for recognition. With the support of their vice chancellor, the selected individual shares insights about their role, background, and personal motivations, fostering a deeper connection within our community.
This initiative replaced the “Employee of the Month” program, which faced challenges despite its positive intent. Inspired by employee feedback, the spotlight fosters connection and understanding across all departments, highlighting the unique contributions of faculty and staff. It’s a chance to celebrate the people who make our campus thrive.
By sharing these spotlights, we aim to highlight the diversity of roles and talents within our campus while aligning with Ivy Tech's academic program spotlights. These features provide a unique opportunity for employees to connect and build camaraderie, showcasing the people who make Ivy Tech Indianapolis a remarkable place to work and learn.
