On Wednesday, June 25, leaders from Ivy Tech Fort Wayne and Manchester University officially signed an agreement to celebrate a new partnership that allows Ivy Tech grads to seamlessly transfer to Manchester with junior status.
Ivy Tech President Dr. Sue Ellespermann and Manchester President Dr. Stacy Young were joined by Ivy Tech Fort Wayne Chancellor Dr. Kim Barnett-Johnson and Manchester’s Vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Partnerships Leon Letter to introduce the new transfer pathway.

“Ivy Tech embraces a dual mission, certainly to serve Indiana’s workforce, but we also are here to provide seamless, affordable associate to bachelor’s programs,” Dr. Ellespermann said during the event. “By enabling Ivy Tech grads to transfer to Manchester University with junior standing, we are helping students accelerate their journey to a four-year degree.”
Specific pathways in more than 20 areas of study have been mapped out to ensure that Ivy Tech grads could graduate with a bachelor’s degree in no more than 60 credits at Manchester. Non-specified pathways could take more than 60 credits depending on program type.
Associate degrees in arts, fine arts, science, and general studies completed at Ivy Tech offer students guaranteed admission as a junior at Manchester. If students transfer before graduating from Ivy Tech, credits they complete at Manchester will still allow them to complete an associate degree.
“We dreamt this up about a year ago realizing we have so many students coming in with early college credits from Ivy Tech,” Dr. Young said. “We know there are students all across this region and the state with Ivy Tech credentials, and we are very excited to add [this partnership] at Manchester University.”

An associate degree can be a valuable, standalone credential in the workforce. Through this partnership, students have more employment opportunities as they complete their bachelor's.
