More than 50 offers have been given to community members after they attended Ivy Tech Community College Warsaw’s first-ever Learn While You Earn Hiring Fair held Saturday, April 22. Dozens of people showed up to this public event, surpassing expectations.

Sixteen local employers that offer tuition assistance for Ivy Tech came to Warsaw’s campus (2545 Silveus Crossing) ready to hire workers. In total, 132 interviews were given during the event, which ended with at least 57 offers.

“This hiring fair offered a unique opportunity for jobseekers to meet with multiple employers for one-on-one interviews in one location,” says Allyn Decker, Director of Community Engagement at Ivy Tech Warsaw. “In addition to offering job opportunities, all participating employers also provide some form of tuition assistance benefit.”

Participants who pre-registered were granted access to an app made specially for this event. That app allowed them to learn more information from participating companies, search for job offerings, apply, and schedule an interview time on the day of the event.

“The Ivy Tech Warsaw Hiring Fair surpassed our greatest expectations for an inaugural event,” says Dale Campbell, Human Resources Manager at Zimmer Biomet. “We appreciate the partnership and support provided by Ivy Tech Warsaw to make this event a huge success!”

The companies represented at the event included Avalign Cutting Instruments, the Bowen Center, Core Mechanical Services, DePuy Synthes, Instrumental Machine and Development, Ivy Tech Community College Fort Wayne and Warsaw, Lake City Bank, Lutheran Health Network, Maple Leaf Farms, Meijer Warsaw, Paragon Medical, Parkview Warsaw Hospital, Precision Medical Technologies, Whiebrink Landscape, and Zimmer Biomet.

“We are extremely pleased that so many employers and community members supported this event. I believe it will help make many meaningful connections, and maybe even change lives for the better!” says Allyn. “We hope to offer this again to the community next year.”
