Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington is hosting free Introduction to Semiconductors Summer Sessions for high school students and adults. The workshops are designed to open doors to local careers in the emerging field of microelectronics. The high school session takes place July 14-18 and the adult session takes place July 21-25. Applications are open now. 

“Participants will get hands-on experiences that pave the way for careers in the growing field of semiconductor manufacturing,” Michael Waterford, Microelectronics and Department of Defense Employer Laison at Ivy Tech Bloomington said. “The workshops offer an entry-level overview for anyone who may be exploring career pathways or wanting to make a career change.”

Interactive workshops include circuit board assembly, soldering, robotics, automation programming, and cleanroom simulations. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the semiconductor industry and hear from local industry insiders, area companies, and hiring managers.

Lunch will be provided at each of the sessions and will be held at the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences at 501 N. Profile Parkway.
