Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington graduate, Britney Khan, has received one of the nation’s most selective transfer scholarships, the Cooke Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship from the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation. She was one of 90 students out of 1,600 applicants across the nation to receive the award, and the only student in Indiana.
The Cooke Sholars award provides up to $55,000 per year for up to three years, enabling Kahn to complete her bachelor’s degree with a significantly reduced financial burden.
“I am incredibly grateful to the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation for believing in my potential,” Kahn said. “I am ready to take on the next chapter with renewed purpose and a steadfast commitment to making a difference.”
After moving to the United States from Trinidad, Khan began her studies at Ivy Tech Bloomington as a first-generation college student. She graduated with honors and earned associate degrees in informatics and general studies. She pursued leadership opportunities and received numerous Ivy Tech scholarships that supported persistence in her studies.

Khan has been accepted to the University of Michigan and will transfer this fall to earn her bachelor’s degree in international studies. Her goal is to pursue a career in humanitarian work with the United Nations, focusing on support for underdeveloped nations in crisis and contributing to global disaster management.
