BEDFORD, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College is now offering an EMT certification prep class in Bedford. The class is designed for adults who are looking to start a career as an EMT or are interested in working in the healthcare field. Students can finish the class in 16 weeks by taking classes Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Classes begin Monday, August 22 but students should enroll by the deadline of Friday, August 12.

“The EMT certificate is a great stepping stone to a career in health care,” said Rodney Taylor, Paramedic Science program chair at Ivy Tech Bloomington. “The EMT certificate is geared toward employment, but the training also counts toward a Paramedic Science degree.”

Ivy Tech EMT and Paramedic Science graduates are employed by IU Health Bedford, IU Health Bloomington, IU Health Paoli, Owen County EMS, Greene County Ambulance, Brown Township Fire Department, Indianapolis EMS, Care Ambulance, Seals Ambulance, and many others.

The EMT certification class will be conveniently located in Bedford and take place at the StoneGate Arts and Education Center, located at 405 I Street.
