Baking and pastry students at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington have begun operating a small retail bakery kiosk, Crossing Bakery, at the college’s Liberty Drive location.

Crossing Bakery will be open beginning today from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It will be open on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the rest of the month. Items will include cherry chocolate scones with salted caramel, cranberry orange walnut scones, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, blueberry muffins, assorted personal pies, whoopie pies, birthday cake whoopie pies, gluten-free no bake cookies, brownies and more. Prices will range from $1.25 to $3 for each item.

“The purpose of the class is for students to gain experience in the operation of a retail bakery, as well as plan and conduct a promotional event for it,” said Jeffery Taber, assistant professor and hospitality program chairman at Ivy Tech in a news release.

Crossing Bakery will be at 2088 S. Liberty Drive on Bloomington’s west side.
