Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington is a step closer to its fundraising goal of $4 million.

The “Here We Grow Again!” fundraising campaign has raised $2.7 million, Chancellor Jennie Vaughan said at the community college’s annual showcase of chefs and wine, an appreciation event for donors to the community college. That’s $700,000 more since the kickoff event in September.

“It’s been fantastic,” Vaughan said of the response from donors.

The fundraising campaign is for a $24 million expansion of the Connie and Steve Ferguson Academic Building, with $20 million given to Ivy Tech from the state. Vaughan said construction is almost 40 percent done, and she hopes to have the roof on soon, before more winter weather hits.

The community part of the campaign — which focuses on new donors, especially those who’ve expressed interest in the past — will start in January, Vaughan said.
