The Ivy+ Career Link team provides quality customized and open enrollment training opportunities for clients and community members in our campus service that are seeking to learn more about specialized areas. Qualified instructors are needed to develop and deliver various contract and open enrollment trainings. Classes are conducted either in a continuing education classroom environment, live online, or at the client site in the morning, afternoon or evening sessions during weekdays or weekends.

Ivy+ Career Link instructors for this position should be prepared to create and deliver content. A variety of topics or areas will be offered so the audience can draw from personal and professional enrichment. Instructors are expected to provide quality teaching materials including documentation to substantiate teaching.

Ivy Tech Community College-Hamilton County is looking for non-credit course instructors with proficiency in a subject area as demonstrated by a completed higher education program, certifications, and/or equivalent professional or volunteer experience reflected in a professional resume.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver non-credit, skills-based classes as assigned.

  • Providing a learning environment that supports student success.

  • Collaborate and cooperate with the Ivy+ Career Link Employer Consultant to confirm dates and times, content, pricing, and planning for courses.

  • Teach and train classes as assigned in workplace and campus locations within programming designed to meet specific company learning objectives. 

  • Teaching load is dictated by project, or projects, not credit hour production.

  • Work a flexible schedule as dictated by the client company training demand.

The Career Coach provides coaching services to assist students in completing their Career Development Portfolio (CDP). Reports to the Vice Chancellor of Career Link and works collaboratively with Employer Consultant, Advisors, K-14 Lead, and other faculty and staff to meet the career development needs of students and to meet or exceed campus metrics.

Location: This position is primarily located in East Chicago but frequent travel to Crown Point and Gary will be required. Occasional travel to Indianapolis and other campuses throughout the state may be required.

Pay: $45,000-50,000 per year

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Partners with campus Vice Chancellor of Career Link and Systems Office Assistant Vice President Career Coaching to build out campus strategy and plan to meet and exceed related College goals.

Coaches and tracks progress of students in implementing their CDP in one to one and group coaching scenarios. Actions taken by students, under the guidance of the Career Coach, will include, but are not limited to the student completing a resume, LinkedIn profile, mock interviews, employer engagement, and engagement with a work-and-learn/job placement platform. Ensures the student completes at least one work-and-learn experience by the 45th academic hour in collaboration with Career Link colleagues.

Partners with campus Employer Consultant, Talent Connection Manager , Advisors and other faculty and staff to provide pre-Ivy Tech and orientation experiences that reflect the CDP.

Leads efforts to build awareness of career coaching opportunities at campuses including, but not limited to: building of student CDPs, career exploration, job search tools, work-and-learn and career placement. Partners with aligned campus stakeholders to promote a career development culture on the campus at large. Works collaboratively with Executive Director and Employer Consultants to deliver presentations, and staff fairs and events.

Develops and reports on lead indicators and results connected to CDP participation including frequency of one to one and group sessions, CDP milestone completion, and other pertinent data. Remains current on employment trends and matches those with program opportunities. Develops strategies to track impacts of career coaching on student development and attain campus metrics on student employment outcomes; recommends strategies to improve students’ outcomes.

Oversees portals used by students related to career awareness and exploration, and student career case management.

Works with Employer Consultant to establish and grow a consistent operational model for the delivery of work-and-learn and other skill-based practicum experiences. Assists to help connect students with employer work-and-learn experiences, improve student usage of internship placement tools and increases the number of students placed in such programs. Works to develop student capacities in workforce and career readiness.

Develops deep understanding and appreciation of student career coaching best practices including core coaching competencies.

Participates in professional growth, development, and training programs related to career coaching.

Participates in weekly and monthly meetings with Vice Chancellor of Career Link, Employer Consultant. Participates in related annual summits and/or retreats, as well as project-based work as deemed appropriate or necessary.

The Director will provide support to the Assistant Vice President for Nursing (AVPN) for maintaining accreditation and regulatory standards within the School of Nursing.
