About CNC Operator/Machinist Training

CNC Operator training classes are held at Ivy Tech Community College in Terre Haute. CNC Operator Training allows you to earn National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certifications to give you the skills you need to become an Entry Level CNC Operator/Machinist.

Our goal is to equip students with the tools to become National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Certified; in the following areas:
Machining Level 1, (Measurement, Materials & Safety)
Machining Level 1, (Job Planning, Benchwork, & Layout)
Machining Level 1, (CNC Turning, Operations)
Machining Level 1, (CNC Milling, Operations)

Upon successful completion of this program, including their (NIMS) Certifications, students will be equipped for full time employment in this area.

This program was created to prepare individuals to fill local jobs in the machining industry.

Employers want to hire people with experience and training in this high paying career field. According to the Hoosier Hot 50 Jobs, jobs are estimated to grow by 18% by 2022. Enroll in training to become a Entry Level CNC Operator/Machinist, to be eligible for one of these jobs.  

Upon successful completion of this program, a student will receive 4 National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Certifications and 12 college credits that can be applied toward an associate degree in Machine Tool Technology. This training has a 99% certification completion rate.

Admission Requirements: Workkeys Assessment - Must score level (3) in the following areas: Locating Information, Applied Mathematics and Reading for Information.
