PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Advanced Automation and Robotics is designed for students interested in great careers in a global marketplace with world-class companies. There is a huge shortage of skilled employees in manufacturing, and this degree will provide you with the skills needed to be successful in the modern manufacturing environment.

  • The agriculture program engages students in hands-on activities in and outside of their classrooms while preparing them for real-world agriculture careers. The program focus is primarily in the areas of: Livestock Production, Agronomy, Agriculture Equipment, and Agribusiness. Students will be exposed to various areas in the agriculture industry through field experiences. Graduates of the AAS program can enter directly into the agriculture workforce in exciting, competitive paying careers with confidence and the knowledge to advance their career. Specialized certificates in agribusiness, animal science, plant science, horticulture/landscape, urban agriculture, and many others can be earned throughout one's educational advancement.

  • The Automotive Technology Program prepares students for positions in the automotive industry by providing hands- on training specializing in auto-mechanic practices, equipment and tools, vehicle subsystems, auto-mechanic maintenance, and professional responsibility.

  • The Design Technology Program will show students how they can become a valuable member of a process engi- neering team designing solutions for everything from modifying existing or new buildings (Architectural Specialty) innovative, commercial products (Mechanical Specialty) creating exciting animations and brochures (Graphics Specialty) or creating complex machine parts out of a simple block of material (CAD-CAM Specialty).

  • The program blends classroom, studio and field experiences together. Students work on developing, designing and renovating projects that include the sustainable, healthy and beautiful creation of homes, work, landscapes and communities as well as building a comprehensive portfolio and working an internship provide real-world design experience. Graduates have the option of going into the workforce or transferring to a four-year university. Students choosing to enter the workforce can go into a wide variety of design paths including, interior design, commercial facilities designer, kitchen and bath designer, landscape management, historic preservation and adaptive re-use consultant, and beyond.

  • The Engineering program can be a great stepping stone whether you want to be an electrical, mechanical, civil, computer or any other engineer. This program provides a strong foundation in science, mathematics and engineering. Special emphasis is placed on qualitative and quantitative analytical skills necessary in engineering while working in a team environment. There will also be material covered that deals with the applied aspects of science in engineering. Students will get direct experience with industry leading software such as Multisim for electrical circuit simulation and MATLAB for mathematical modeling.

    The Students in the Engineering Technology program will become skilled technicians who will work with engineers and other technicians to design, implement and support engineering processes. Students will learn about collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data and troubleshooting complex systems in all courses. As a transfer degree, the Engineering Technology program is designed to prepare students for continuing their education in a bachelor's degree program in a wide range of engineering technology specialties including electrical, mechanical, civil, industrial, and chemical engineering technology.

  • Highly trained HVAC technicians are in high demand in diverse fields including commercial, industrial, residential, hospitals and now even energy related fields such as geothermal and solar thermal. Ivy Tech South Bend-Elkhart has been a leader in real-world classroom and Laboratory training of HVAC/R personnel and accreditation prepares and enables students to be competitive in a well-paying, rewarding career in the HVAC/Refrigeration field as technicians who specialize in installing and maintaining heating, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems; a career that can't be automated and can't be moved overseas.

  • The Machine Tool Technology Program prepares students for positions in the machining industry. We provide hands-on training specializing in manual & CNC machining practices, equipment and tools used in the field. We also develop professional responsibility for personal growth and workmanship.
