Apprenticeship Programs

Apprenticeship programs are industry-driven pathways for employers to use to develop their workforce that allows their employees to gain valuable hands-on work experience along with classroom instruction ultimately to acquire job-specific education and training and oftentimes industry-recognized credentials.

High-quality apprenticeship programs may include:

  • On-the-job training
  • Classroom learning
  • Industry-specific certifications
  • Career advancement

There are two primary types of apprenticeship programs that we work with at Ivy Tech Columbus - industry registered apprenticeship programs through the U.S. Department of Labor and non-Department of Labor Apprenticeship Programs that are employer-specific.

Achieve Your Degree (AYD)

The Achieve Your Degree Program is a partnership between Ivy Tech Community College and community businesses and institutions to offer employees the opportunity to receive a community college education at minimal cost.

Ivy Tech assists AYD students with the college and financial aid application process and defers billing until the end of the semester - ensuring students take advantage of any financial aid opportunities for which they qualify. Company tuition plans then cover the balance per company policy.
