GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE

The Groundskeeper will ensure all outdoor areas are well maintained, clean and attractive to all employees, students and visitors to campus. This position is responsible for outdoor space maintenance during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, such as mowing, trimming, and landscaping. This is a part-time seasonal position.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform regular grounds and landscaping maintenance such as mowing lawns, string trimming, blowing, weed maintenance, mulching, pruning, trimming, and caring for plantings at campus locations in Logansport and Peru.
  • Removing trash and debris from the grounds, drains, sidewalks, parking lots, and entrances to the campus.
  • Provide routine maintenance of all lawn care equipment.
  • Able to operate commercial lawn mowers, trimmers, tractors to maintain the facility grounds.
  • Other duties assigned consistent with commonly accepted practices.
  • All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and talk or hear
  • The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward
  • The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and operate machinery
  • The employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • The employee may sometimes push/pull items such as tables, chairs, scaffolds, and furniture

Hourly Rate: $16.50

Weekly Hours: 20-28

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to work alone as well with others
  • Initiative and ability to work without supervision, when required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet the requirements to be an authorized driver of a college vehicle
