The Learning Resource Center (LRC) is dedicated to empowering students by providing academic support that stimulates critical thinking and nurtures the development of academic independence. Ivy Tech Community College - Terre Haute Campus is recruiting for an on-campus science tutor with a strong background in Anatomy and Physiology (APHY). The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students in APHY coursework and be comfortable assisting with lab-related content, including basic microscope usage and identification of slides.

 

Tutor Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to students seeking assistance in various subjects within the assignment guidelines and boundaries of the LRC 
  • Set a precedent of academic integrity, accountability, responsibility by modeling and demonstrating good student behavior as a tutor.
  • Contributes to student learning, growth, and advancement.
  • Develop and implement strategies that promote analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Refers students to appropriate support services when necessary.
  • Collaborate with faculty and other LRC staff to identify areas for improvement and adapt tutoring strategies accordingly.
  • Create educational materials, resources, and guides that supplement course content and aid in comprehension.
  • Stay updated on curriculum changes and educational trends to ensure relevance of support materials at the direction of the Coordinator.
  • Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions in TracCloud.
  • Distribute and collect student feedback at the direction of the Coordinator.
  • Other duties as assigned

$15.00/hour Scheduled up to 28 hours per week

Tutor Qualifications/Skills:

  • Minimum of B in subject to tutor.
  • Emotional maturity and stability.
  • Patient, flexible, positive, consistent, dependable, and cooperative.
  • Ability to take supervision and correction constructively.
