Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, counseling, social work, or related fields. Master's preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in academic advising, admissions, career counseling or related higher education area is required or one (1) year of experience with a Master's degree.

  • Experience working with and being committed to diverse communities is required.

  • Excellent communication and time management skills, as well as the ability to demonstrate initiative and working in a team environment is required.

  • Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and database applications including student records management systems and online social media tools.

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION: Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The Adjunct Instructor for Skills Training – Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired on an as-needed basis. The adjunct instructor will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of workforce and non-credit training.

The instructor facilitates applied learning in classroom and field environments, emphasizing safety, technical skill development, environmental stewardship, and workforce readiness. This role supports both arboriculture operations (e.g., equipment use, rigging, chainsaw safety) and urban forestry practices (e.g., tree planting, inventory, community engagement)
  • Deliver high-quality, hands-on instruction across arboriculture and urban forestry topics in classroom and field settings.
  • Facilitate training aligned with TCIA, ANSI Z133, ANSI A300, OSHA, and USDA Urban & Community Forestry guidelines.
  • Lead safety-focused instruction including PPE use, hazard awareness, electrical hazards, jobsite setup, and urban risk factors.

The Assistant Director of Ivy Cares and Disability Support Services provides comprehensive, student-centered support through a holistic case management approach that addresses both academic and non-academic barriers to student success. This role designs and implements accommodations for students with documented accessibility needs while also connecting students to essential campus and community resources.

The position involves working closely with students to identify challenges, develop individualized support plans, and empower self-advocacy. The Assistant Director collaborates with faculty and staff to ensure appropriate implementation of accommodations and promotes inclusive practices that support student persistence, retention, and overall well-being.

In addition, this role supports students facing personal, financial, and social challenges through non-clinical crisis intervention and resource navigation. The Assistant Director advises and supports special populations, including historically underserved and underrepresented students, first-generation students, and low-income students, ensuring equitable access to opportunities and services.

The role also includes utilizing data and system reporting to assess program effectiveness, inform decision-making, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.

Salary range: $46,000 - $50,000 (based on education and experience)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Coordinate, implement, and monitor accommodations and support services for students in alignment with applicable federal regulations, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act. 

  • Review documentation and determine appropriate, reasonable accommodations based on individual student needs. 

  • Meet with students to conduct intake, develop individualized support plans, and monitor progress toward academic and personal goals. 

  • Provide ongoing case management support that promotes student retention, persistence, and success. 

  • Serve as an advocate and liaison for students, supporting communication and collaboration with faculty, staff, and external partners. 

  • Support faculty in understanding and implementing accommodations and inclusive practices.

LEADERSHIP

Work with the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and School Vice President to support the College’s mission, strategic planning and College development initiatives. Proactively link with business and industry in regards to current and future College curricula within the division.
