Adjunct Faculty - Non Credit Skills Training

GENERAL PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
Adjunct faculty work with the Employer Consultant and Program Manager to consult, develop and deliver short-term off the shelf or customized programs to meet the in-demand real-time needs of employers and community stakeholders in our service area. Skills Training (non-credit) programs are short term commitments and may include delivery on campus, at an employer location or a community facility in any of our five service area counties (Wayne, Rush, Fayette, Union and Randolph). Adjuncts are compensated based on a variety of factors related to required skill sets, required certifications if applicable and experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instructional delivery or facilitation that meet learning objectives established in contracted or open enrollment projects as assigned / accepted.  Some projects may include employer consultation in order for the Employer Consultant to create a proposal and cost.  Many courses are developed, or can be tweaked to meet needs identified, other times programs need to be developed or customized.  The College can provide access to many resources – curriculums and past projects for reference as well as other faculty or locations who may have experience to assist.  Adjuncts will be responsible for appropriate use of College labs and equipment that may be used in the course of delivery.  Adjuncts will provide all materials developed for a course delivery to the EC/Program Manager upon completion and will ensure documentation of student attendance and pass/fail/grade per project is completed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Qualifications vary project to project and are related to the subject matter being taught or facilitated and client desired outcomes.  Ideal candidates have experiential knowledge in the subject area, experience with adult instruction or training / facilitation, good listening skills, dynamic communication skills, computer skills that allow interface with basic systems and in-class IT equipment (training provided) and present themselves – and the College – in a professional manner.  Confidentiality of client material and projects is required at all times.  Projects may be in a variety of areas – safety, supervision, computers, maintenance topics, manufacturing, quality, lean, etc.  All persons interested in working on any type of short term high quality training project we may encounter should apply to be considered for projects as they develop.

The instructor facilitates applied learning in classroom and field environments, emphasizing safety, technical skill development, environmental stewardship, and workforce readiness. This role supports both arboriculture operations (e.g., equipment use, rigging, chainsaw safety) and urban forestry practices (e.g., tree planting, inventory, community engagement)
  • Deliver high-quality, hands-on instruction across arboriculture and urban forestry topics in classroom and field settings.
  • Facilitate training aligned with TCIA, ANSI Z133, ANSI A300, OSHA, and USDA Urban & Community Forestry guidelines.
  • Lead safety-focused instruction including PPE use, hazard awareness, electrical hazards, jobsite setup, and urban risk factors.
  • Provide hands-on training in equipment and technical skills such as chainsaw operation, wood chippers, rope and rigging, pruning, and tree planting.

Adjunct faculty work with the Employer Consultant and Program Manager to consult, develop and deliver short-term off the shelf or customized programs to meet the in-demand real-time needs of employers and community stakeholders in our service area. Skills Training (non-credit) programs are short term commitments and may include delivery on campus, at an employer location or a community facility in any of our five service area counties (Wayne, Rush, Fayette, Union and Randolph). A qualified faculty member for the welding program meets the discipline standard through one of three routes:

● Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in technology, engineering, engineering technology, or an earned baccalaureate or higher degree directly related to the program’s discipline and

  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) and 

  • Two years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR)

or

●  Possesses an earned baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR), and

  • Five years of directly related work experience that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR)

or

  • Possesses an earned associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution directly related to the program’s discipline and

  • Possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) and

  • Three years of directly related work experience linked explicitly to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience in higher education

  • Experience with Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams

  • Willingness to teach evenings, virtually or in person

  • Experience in curriculum design/development

  • Experience with virtual meetings, i.e., Teams and Zoom meetings

  • Experience teaching or training entry‑level learners in hands‑on welding environments

  • Demonstrated proficiency in SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding processes, with the ability to deliver instruction in a lab‑focused setting

  • Possession of AWS certifications in relevant welding processes or a strong willingness to obtain such certifications within the first year of employment

  • Experience in maintaining welding lab equipment, identifying maintenance needs, and communicating supply or consumable needs to support staff

  • Strong understanding of weld safety practices, lab organization, and best practices for managing an active instructional welding environment

  • Experience supporting learners in preparation for industry-recognized welding certifications

General Purpose and Scope of Position
The Workforce and Development Administrative Assistant provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and customer service support to both the Development/Foundation office and the Workforce & Career Services department. This position updates and maintains CRM and student/employer databases, processes gifts and acknowledgements, assists with departmental events and training programs, coordinates logistics, and ensures smooth daily operations. The role requires strong communication, professionalism, and attention to detail while supporting students, donors, employers, and campus partners.

Major Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong customer service and student advocacy mindset characterized by approachability, adaptability, professionalism, and commitment to problem-solving.
  • Create an inclusive environment where all individuals feel valued and supported.
  • Go beyond surface-level answers to identify root causes of issues and resolve questions efficiently and respectfully.
  • Provide accurate and timely data entry of constituent records in the statewide Foundation CRM database, including data input, cleanup, reporting, and analysis.
  • Process gifts and gift acknowledgements in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with marketing, communications, mailings, and general departmental outreach. Support planning and implementation of Development/Foundation special events.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow all FERPA and Foundation guidelines.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the office, including receptionist duties, answering phones, greeting visitors, and monitoring the department email inbox.
  • Schedule rooms, AV equipment, resources, and support logistics for training programs and departmental events.
  • Coordinate room set-up and tear-down for classes, meetings, and events.
  • Prepare, distribute, and maintain class materials, contracts, and departmental correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate files and records in compliance with policy and audit standards.
  • Support registration, billing, purchasing, and related processes through the Business Office, Registrar, and other internal systems.
  • Input and manage student/employer data in systems such as Salesforce, Banner, and other platforms used by the department.
  • Generate routine and custom reports using Salesforce, Lightcast, and additional tools as needed.
  • Track grades, certifications, attendance, and participation records.
  • Maintain supply inventory and ensure classrooms and training areas are ready for instruction.
  • Support adjunct faculty, trainers, and department team members.
  • Assist with departmental tasks, community engagement activities, and events.
  • Complete errands or office-related tasks as needed.
  • Represent the college and departments professionally in all interactions.
  • Perform other duties logically associated with the role as assigned.
