Adjunct Faculty - Education

Adjunct Faculty are responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided.

Classes are on campus in person. Classes run during the day and evening hours.
Pay: $45.45/contact hour

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitates student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
  • Makes optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
  • Develops/maintains course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.  Maintains accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
  • Engages with students in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and leads to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College, shows evidence of developing and implementing active classroom teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning (curricular).
  • Interacts with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complies with College policies, campus guidelines and expectations.
  • Ensures knowledge of and implements emergency and safety procedures for classrooms, labs and all learning environments.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

A qualified faculty member in education meets both of the following criteria:

1. Possesses an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or a related field appropriate to the program,

and

2. Has one of the following:

· Professional certification in the field

or

· Three years of elementary or secondary teaching experience

1. Is a Certified Surgical Technologist, and
2. Has one year of clinical experience in the operating room.

SURG 114, 212, 214 Course Standard:
A qualified faculty member teaching SURG 114, 212, 214 (clinical courses) meets the course standard through one of two routes:

1. Meets the Surgical Technology Program Standard, or
2. Possesses an earned associate or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution, and is a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

ASL Interpreter Part-Time

This position is on an as needed basis. A weekly schedule is established each semester, which will require flexibility to support student schedules, including the opportunities to work weekdays Monday through Friday within the hours of 8am to 10pm and occasionally on the weekends. Provide individual and group tutoring virtually and in-person in a manner that enhances student success.

Major Responsibilities:

Teach and assist students in the use of math instructional software. Maintain a functional and productive tutoring environment. Interact with faculty as to student needs, course changes and Emporium methodologies. Monitor student activity logs and internet sites accessed. Proctor tests as needed.

Tutoring or teaching experience.

Part-Time Library Assistant

The candidate will primarily cover the library’s front desk to provide support in areas such as computer and technical support, student and reference assistance, and material circulation. We want someone who is proactive and attentive, is warm and eager to greet and help students, and appreciates the value of the library.

Pay: $16.22 per Hour

Hours: 10am to 2pm, Monday through Friday.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage the circulation desk independently and with minimal supervision.

  • Help students find material within the physical and online library.

  • Use SirsiDynix Workflows to check materials in and out and to update patron records.

  • Assist students with computers, scanners, printers, and copiers.

  • Problem solve student issues and refer them to librarians when necessary.

  • Shelve and shelf read materials according to Library of Congress Classification.

  • Assist in processing new materials when they arrive.

  • Promptly answer the phone in a friendly and helpful manner.

  • Keep the library organized, clean, and tidy.

Student Worker - Student Life Fort Wayne

Serve as support to Student Life and functions related to extra and co-curricular activities, student organizations and student engagement. Serve as the first point of contact for internal and external customers who are seeking assistance from Student Life. Maintain good public relations and a professional image for the services, events and activities that are provided through the department.

Major Responsibilities:

• Assist with the planning, marketing, and facilitation of student life events, meetings, and conferences including facility reservations and set-up, vendor arrangements, catering arrangements, audio-visual requests, reservation lists, attendance tracking.

• Create Student Life printed and electronic materials and provides maintenance of campus bulletin boards and campus postings in all buildings.

• Assume Presidential role of the Campus Activities Board student organization, assuming all roles and responsibilities therein. This includes but is not limited to scheduling and leading meetings, organizing agendas, planning team outings, and leading organization officers. Represent Campus Activities Board on the Student Organization Budget Committee.

• Maintain IvyLife student life portal, including event creation, marketing posts, event participation.

• Provide ongoing administrative support for student organizations, regarding org startup, registration, tracking, training, and travel.

• Maintenance of supplies, and materials in all Student Life locations, including Student Life Lounge, Student Life office and storage closet(s).

• Work collaboratively with other internal departments and faculty to market and implement appropriate programming and activities

• Answer telephone and greet visitors, transmit requested information, record messages, and route information to appropriate personnel. Receive incoming mail and prepares outgoing mail.
• Maintain calendars, schedule appointments, and support designated on-campus and virtual meetings and workshops including follow-up as needed.


 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be current student in good standing with 12 credit hours accumulated Ivy Tech courses. Must be currently enrolled for minimum of 6 credit hours. May continue working one semester beyond end of classes.

• Intermediate computer knowledge for applications like email, word processing, internet, spreadsheets, audio visual, zoom, voicemail applications

• Excellent Public and Interpersonal Communication Skills, and ability to work collaboratively as a team player.

• Self-Starter/Self-Motivation – Ability to effectively work independently with little to no supervision.

• Ability to complete projects in a timely manner.

• Understanding or ability to learn and adhere to Ivy Tech policies relating to Risk Management, Academic Standards, Finance, and Student Code of Conduct.

• Experience in event planning, organization, marketing, or visual communication a plus.
