PROGRAM OPERATION:

Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.

Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.

Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook. Submit requested information within established timelines.

STUDENTS:

Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions or provide assistance.

Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.

INSTRUCTION:

Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s).

Use technology such as Canvas, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.

In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.

Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

A qualified faculty member meets the education component of the School of Technology discipline standard through one of two routes:

Possesses any specialized certifications or credentials required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And, 5 years directly related work experience in the field that is specifically linked to the competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR); or

  • Possesses a current Workplace Specialist License granted by the Indiana Department of Education appropriate to course objectives and directly linked to credentials, certifications, and competencies listed in the Curriculum of Record (COR) And, possesses any specialized certifications required for the class being taught as indicated in the Curriculum of Record (COR).
  • Must demonstrate ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees and which every individual feels respected and valued.

School of Technology Course Qualifications (if applicable):

  • To qualify for technology-related courses, candidates must meet one of the following:
  • Part-time faculty discipline standard.
  • Department of Labor journeyman’s card in the discipline, with 2+ years of directly related experience and any required certifications.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience, including specialized certifications linked to course competencies.
  • Workplace Specialist License issued by the Indiana Department of Education, with required certifications.

Other Requirements:

Master Tech a plus

Official college transcripts required upon hiring, and employment contingent on acceptable criminal background checks.

Work Hours:

Day, evening and/or Saturday classes based on class schedule and enrollment.

Ivy Tech Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time faculty to teach Construction Management classes. Adjunct faculty positions provide quality, effective instruction in assigned courses on a part-time, temporary basis.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
  • Stays abreast of the most current teaching methods and technology in the classroom

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or other related field

      INSTRUCTION
