About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled laboratory manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee and provide comprehensive laboratory support for natural science courses within the School of Arts, Sciences & Education, including Anatomy & Physiology, Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, and Physical Science. This role includes coordinating technical lab setup, maintaining and cleaning laboratory spaces, managing supplies and equipment, placing orders and monitoring the lab supply budget, and supervising and supporting laboratory staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality instructional lab experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
This is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
Oversee daily laboratory operations and supervise lab staff to ensure all instructional labs and assigned duties are completed accurately and on schedule.
Set up and tear down instructional labs for science courses offered in the Indianapolis service area.
Maintain clean, organized, and functional instructional labs and preparation rooms.
Prepare chemical solutions, growth media, and biological materials in support of laboratory instruction.
Monitor, inspect, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment; coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.
Manage inventory by ordering, receiving, restocking, and properly storing laboratory supplies and materials.
Ensure proper cleaning, storage, and reuse of glassware, equipment, and laboratory supplies.
Enforce compliance with all safety regulations, laboratory procedures, and professional standards.
Maintain current knowledge of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure proper chemical handling, storage, and disposal.
Education and Experience:
While formal education or certifications may be beneficial, what we need are candidates who can demonstrate the practical skills and experience necessary to excel in this role. A proven track record of instructional and/or research laboratory support, chemical and biological specimen use and disposal in a laboratory environment, and management and/or inventory tracking will be prioritized.
