The Educational Technologist is part of the Fort Wayne Educational Technology team that supports faculty, staff, and students in the use of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other educational technology tools across all learning modalities. The position collaborates with campus leadership and the Statewide Educational Technology team to provide campus or unit-level support, training, and faculty professional development in the use of the LMS and educational technology. This includes support for all courses, self-paced learning modules, multimedia/interactive learning elements, accessibility standards, and other resources or tools. This position supports and maintains AV technologies used campus meeting spaces and for campus events. The focus of this position is balanced between the technical functions of educational technology and advancing pedagogically sound best practices.

Salary:

$38,289 to $59,805 Compensation will be commensurate with the requirements of the position and the candidate’s relevant experience and education.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with other members of the Educational Technology team and staff/faculty to plan and deliver educational technology professional development and/or training across all modalities

  • Supports faculty with the identification, implementation, and use of educational technology tools, pedagogy, and resources across all modalities as directed by the Educational Technology Coordinator

  • Supports faculty and staff in meeting required accessibility standards and student accommodations inside the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Facilitates required faculty training course(s) in the use of the Learning Management System (LMS), required online faculty certification, and other professional development courses in distance education modalities

  • Supports the Director, Educational Technology Support and Operations with student orientation and faculty onboarding related to the Learning Management System (LMS) and educational technology, as needed

  • Supports the Director, Educational Technology Support and Operations with matters relating to classroom AV and educational technology tools and design

  • Supports the use of AV equipment for campus events

  • Provides helpdesk support for the Learning Management System (LMS) and related integrations and educational technology tools for students, faculty and staff

  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of the knowledge base for educational technology tools at the College

  • Provides academic course quality assurance by conducting course audits and quality reviews at the direction of campus and/or Statewide Education Technology leadership, as needed

  • Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned

  • All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of various digital learning platforms such as learning management systems (Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, etc.), publisher platforms (Pearson’s MyLabs\Mastering, McGraw-Hill Connect, Cengage MindTap, etc.), and other platforms required.
  • Knowledge of communication platforms such as email, instant messaging (Microsoft Teams, Slack), and synchronous webcast meeting tools (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoTo Meeting) is required.
  • Knowledge of customer service and/or helpdesk support best practices and ability to deliver customer service with a calm and reassuring presence is preferred.
  • Knowledge of effective teaching practices/pedagogy and best practices training is preferred.
  • Knowledge of various audio-video technologies such as projectors, digital displays, microphones, audio mixing, public address (PA) speakers, and cameras used in permanent and portable installations.
  • Knowledge of audio and video recording, editing, and streaming technologies.
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and can organize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to learn new systems efficiently and follow standards and practices.

Education & Experience
  • A minimum of an Associate Degree required. A Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education is preferred.
  • Experience working in a field that directly relates to the responsibilities of the position is preferred.
  • Experience facilitating the integration of technology in education is preferred.
  • Successful completion of Quality Matters Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) and Higher Education Peer Reviewer Course (PRC) is preferred and will be required as part of ongoing professional development.
