The Vice President for Academic Affairs provides professional leadership in the development of quality standards and consistency in academic curriculum, collegewide, and is directly responsible for programs within the School of Arts, Science, and Education. Within the College, the Vice President works closely with the other Vice Presidents in the Provost Office, Sector Vice Presidents in Workforce and Careers, and campus academic officers to ensure the college is providing the level of courses and service appropriate to the communities Ivy Tech Community College serves. The Vice President leads the Campus Academic Officer Committee (CAOC) and works closely with the campus academic officers.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure academic programs have pathways to credentials of value, support seamless transfer to four-year institutions, and align with workforce demands.
Liaison with state agency partners such as the Commission for Higher Education (CHE), the Department of Education, and other statewide partners to ensure policy and collective action toward state priorities.
Monitor trends in Indiana’s higher education and labor markets to guide academic innovation, including new programs, certifications, and training embedded in existing curriculum.
Supports various levels of accreditation, such as HLC, NACEP, and program-specific quality assurance processes.
Lead and support campus deans and academic affairs AVPs in implementing curriculum policies, driving program improvements, and mentoring curriculum committees.
Develop and uphold academic policies in collaboration with campus academic officers; convene and coordinate CAOC activities.
Champions teaching and learning and professional development initiatives across the state for faculty and campus academic leaders.
Collaborate with the Foundation to support fundraising and strategic initiatives.
Participate in institutional strategic planning relevant to academic affairs.
Represent Ivy Tech statewide implementation of initiatives such as the Indiana College Core and the Transfer Single Articulation Agreements program; represent Ivy Tech on the CHE committees such as STACC, AA&Q and other cross functional working groups.

SALARY RANGE: $160,000-170,000
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A doctoral degree is required.
Must have at least five (5) years in higher education administration or teaching at the post-secondary level.
Must demonstrate proven ability to identify key issues and to carry forward an idea or project from conception to implementation.
Must be adept at resolving individual and group conflicts and have excellent problem-solving, decision-making, decision making and written and oral communication skills.
Must consistently demonstrate sound judgment, discretion, and diplomacy.
Requires a highly self-motivated individual with demonstrated leadership abilities and a hands-on approach to analyze, develop, and administer academic initiatives, procedures, and programs in a complex organization.
Must be willing and able to travel in-state for College business.
