CompTIA Security+ Certification

This intensive, class will prepare students with the competencies required to sit for the CompTIA Security+ certification exam. CompTIA Security+ establishes the core knowledge required of any cybersecurity role and provides a springboard to intermediate-level cybersecurity jobs. CompTIA Security+ validates the baseline skills necessary to perform core security functions and pursue an IT security career.

Students need to have a basic understanding of computer systems and network infrastructure either through previous classwork or job experience. Students who successfully pass the CompTIA Security+ certification may receive course credit for CSIA 105 and 106 (4 credits total).

Summer 2021 Course:

  • June 12 - July 24 (no class July 3)
  • Saturdays
  • 9:00am - 1:00pm
  • StoneGate Arts & Education Center in Bedford, Indiana
  • Optional: Virtual Office Hours Thursdays 6:00pm - 7:00pm (June 17 - July 29)

Biomanufacturing Technician Apprenticeship Program

Are you ready to start your journey in a career in the life science industry? If so, the Biomanufacturing Technician Apprenticeship program will focus on key skills you need to take the next step. Over the course of a three-week program, you will gain knowledge and hands-on experience in specific skills outlined by area employers.

Coursework focuses on several aspects of being a bio-manufacturing technician including safety, use of equipment, PPE & proper gowning techniques, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).

Participants will:

  • Explore manufacturing processes to be better prepared for the workplace and develop required skill sets in the production of biopharmaceuticals and medical devices.
  • Discover work environments, products manufactured, and career advancement opportunities.
  • Experience how technicians use math and technology to complete tasks and document results.
  • Successful completion of the course will earn you a certificate and a direct interview for an entry level position with a life science company to start your apprenticeship journey!

Project Management

Project Management Professional (PMP®) Certification Preparation
This course is intended for individuals who wish to obtain a PMP or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) credential from PMI® (Project Management Institute). Prior to taking the PMP exam, PMI requires proof of 3+ years’ project management experience and 35 contact hours of project management education. However, this course can be taken by anyone who wants to learn the fundamentals of project management.

Certified Clinical Medical Assisting Program

The Clinical Medical Assisting program is designed to prepare students to function as professionals in multiple healthcare settings. Medical assistants with a clinical background perform various clinical tasks including assisting with the administration of medications and with minor procedures, performing an electrocardiogram (EKG), obtaining laboratory specimens for testing, educating patients, and other related tasks. Job opportunities are prevalent with physician’s offices, clinics, chiropractor’s offices, hospitals and outpatient facilities. The class includes instructor led class time over 12 weeks, plus an exam administered by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

In addition to facilitating entry-level clinical medical assisting related positions, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a future formal Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Nursing (LPN) or a Nursing (RN) program.

  • September 7 - December 9, 2021

  • Brown County Career Resource Center (CRC), Nashville, Indiana

ServSafe Manager

The ServSafe program is the restaurant and food service industry's leading food safety training solution. Ivy Tech offers this course in two, half-day sessions. It is designed to meet the requirements to pass the certification exam for food handlers.

Spring 2021 Course:

  • June 2 – June 3, 2021
  • Wednesday / Thursday
  • Day 1: 8:30am – 12:30pm
  • Day 2: 8:30am – 2:30pm (includes certification exam)

My Cook Pathway


In the 8-week long My Cook Pathway program, participants will work for Cook Group while earning their Indiana High School Equivalency Diploma. Participants will work 28 hours a week at Cook and another 10 hours a week preparing for the Test Assessing Secondary Completion™ (TASC). After passing the TASC and demonstrating success in a work role, graduates will be offered a full-time position with Cook.

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Training

Do you want to make a difference in someone’s life? Do you enjoy variety in your days? Are you empathetic and caring?  Working as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a fun, challenging, and rewarding career. RBTs are paraprofessionals who work in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Working 1:1 with patients living with autism or other developmental disabilities, RBTs are trained to deliver behavior analysis therapy to teach new skills that will improve the quality of patients’ lives.

Requirements for RBT® Credential

  • 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma
  • Pass a background check** (comparable to background checks required of home health aides, childcare professionals, and teachers in the community)
  • Complete 40 hours of training (included in the program)
  • Complete initial Competency Assessment (included in the program)
  • Pass the RBT® exam

**Background checks fees are not included in the program. Instructions for obtaining a background check will be provided.

Innovation Insights

In partnership with The Mill, Ivy Tech will be hosting a new class called Innovation Insights.  This class is designed for teams that are looking to grow and develop a creative innovation mindset.  The goal of this class is to show your teams new ways to tackle problems.  The sessions will be interactive and may serve as a great teamwork building opportunity and professional development.  Outside of the class sessions, the instructor will be available to meet 1:1 with class participants to coach and provide feedback.  The class will be hosted over 4 sessions, meeting weekly to cover the following topics:

    • Week 1: Define the innovation challenge
    • Week 2: Construct a POV
    • Week 3: Ideate and prototype
    • Create a business plan and story

Additional information:

    • Cost: $199 per participant ($175 Mill member)
    • Where: All sessions and office hours will be hosted virtually over Zoom
    • When: The class will meet Tuesdays 4/20-5/11 10am-12p

The Mill Code School: IT Administration and CompTIA Network+ Certification

Ivy Tech Bloomington has partnered with The Mill and gener8tor Upskilling to offer an exciting opportunity for people interested in gaining IT Administrator skills. The coursework includes learning modules via a LinkedIn Learning platform and covers skills to become a certified CompTIA Network + administrator, including essential networking concepts, techniques to manage and administer network infrastructure, and preparation for the N10-007 exam. You’ll also earn LinkedIn Certifications in diversity, inclusion, and belonging, and professional soft skills.

Over 3.9 million IT Administrator jobs were posted on LinkedIn in 2020 and the final week of the program includes an “interview swarm” where participants will use their new technical and job-seeking skills to impress hiring companies during a speed-dating-style facilitated meet-up.
