All area students, grades 7-8, are encouraged to apply for this free leadership program. 

Mission: The Judy O'Bannon Youth Leadership Academy seeks to involve young leaders from diverse backgrounds and experiences in an innovative and creative program designed to foster civic commitment and engagement.

Curriculum: Students will participate in leadership development activities over three concentrated weekends in October-November 2016. These weekends will take place at Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington. Beginning in January 2017, students will meet twice a month with an Ivy Tech mentor to complete a project that meets the needs of youth or solves a problem faced by youth in their community or school. Students will complete their projects and make a presentation to the community at a public event in the spring of 2017.  

Program Dates:

During January, February, and March 2017, students will meet twice a month. Meeting days will be determined by the group participants and mentor.

Students will be required to make a final presentation of their project at a public event on the Ivy Tech Bloomington Campus.  

Eligibility: Students in 7th and 8th grades from any school in the area are eligible to apply.
