Decorate & Dine: Fall Tablescapes
Come on out to the Farm to make new friends and learn some tips for decorating this fall. We will transform the Farmhouse Gathering Room table into a tablescape of fall beauty. We will change it a couple of times to find just the right one to compliment the Old Farmhouse kitchen feel. Bring an appetite along with your creativity because while we’re busy decorating we will make and serve up a couple tasty dishes to get us in the fall spirit. Handouts and recipes will be provided.

The Watercolors of Autumn & Lunch on the Farm
Come to Burton Kimble Farms Education Center for a day of inspiration with Jeanne Ellen Dutton, accomplished artist and instructor. The amazing oranges, golds and browns of Autumn will prevail as you paint the famous fall leaves of Indiana. After a quick tutorial on how to use watercolors, students will follow along and create 2-3 small paintings. A light lunch will be served in the comfort of the Old Farmhouse. Enjoy the country air while discovering your creative abilities with watercolor. Class will take place indoors. Previous experience not essential–just bring your creativity and we’ll bring the supplies.

Beginning Mountain Dulcimer
Randy Tuell is back on the Farm! Here is your opportunity to learn with this patient and popular instructor. You don’t need to own a dulcimer—instruments will be provided. In this class you’ll learn to play simple melodies and chords, how to read dulcimer tablature, and how to tune and strum. No previous musical experience is required. The last 30 minutes of the class will be devoted to personal instruction.

Intermediate Mountain Dulcimer
This class is designed to enhance the playing skills of more experienced players who want to play with others or for personal enrichment. We’ll explore more advanced chords and strumming through traditional, fiddle, gospel and Celtic tunes. Participants will also learn to use a capo and how to play different tunings. The last 30 minutes of the class will be devoted to added personal instruction.

Talented decorator and popular instructor, Martie Medlock Spaulding, will focus her creative thinking on sharing ideas for making wreaths to help celebrate the seasons of your life. She will fuel your imagination and spark your energy for creating wreaths appropriate for home, church, school, and business. If you think wreaths are only used to hang on your front door, Martie will change your mind.

Electric pressure cookers, like the Instant Pot (a multi-cooker that does the jobs all your pots in a fraction of the time), were one of the biggest selling home appliance in 2017. If you haven’t taken yours out of the box yet, you are not alone. Learn the basics of electric pressure cooking, the accessories that make it easier, and get some great resources for recipes. Food will be prepared on the spot and in a flash you will be enjoying a great, pressure-cooked lunch.

Fall Baking
Nothing ushers in the comforts of fall like the smell of baked goods wafting through the house. Come enjoy an afternoon of baking and sharing with friends as we sit gather and share recipes, tips, and family stories behind our favorite baked treats.  Everyone has a "specialty" and every specialty has a story. We will supply recipe cards for everyone, as well as tea, coffee, and tasty baked goods. Please bring your favorite baked good recipe, or even a couple, and be prepared to explain why it's special to you. You will leave the Farm filled with good food and ideas for expanding your baking experience at home.
