In September 2019, Ivy Tech Community College will be starting Required Advising using PINS for registration. Here are the top five things you need to know about Required Advising and PINS.

1.  Why is Required Advising helpful?

At Ivy Tech, we want to help students stay on track to complete their academic goals! An academic completion plan lays out your courses semester by semester through degree completion. Creating your plan with an academic advisor will help you review remaining degree requirements and determine which classes to take and when to take them, which can save you time and money.

2. What are PINS?

A six digit code that you will use to register for classes.
Please Note: Going forward, you will not be able to register for classes if you do not have a PIN.

3. When is my PIN available?

Watch your email in order to know when your PIN is available. 

4. How do I get my PIN?

If you are in good standing (both academically and in good SAP standing) and have an up to date Academic Completion Plan through your final semester, you must FIRST contact your advisor to get a PIN.

If you do not fulfill these requirements, you will need to set up an appointment to meet with an advisor for assistance with registration.

5. I forgot my PIN where can I find it?

Don't worry! You can always find it listed in the top right section of your Ivy Advising Dashboard.


From the main menu, click on “Dashboard”








Then locate your PIN in the right-hand corner.
