Ivy Techs Office Administration Institute Meets Needs of Busy Professionals

Recent changes to the Office Administration Institute at Ivy Tech Community College—Wabash Valley make earning nationally-recognized certifications, such as a certificate in Microsoft® Office Specialist, a Technical Certificate in Office Administration and college credit toward an Associate of Applied Science degree more achievable.

Students can now attend part-time meeting Monday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. to Noon at the Terre Haute campus. The program teaches in-demand skills in databases, desktop publishing, email and calendar software, leadership skills, presentation and communication skills, spreadsheets, word processing, emerging technologies and more.  A full-time schedule is also available meeting Monday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to complete the program in less than 10 months.

Throughout the program, students will prepare and test for numerous Microsoft® Office Specialist certification exams.

Joining the Institute as faculty instructor is Brandee Coltharp who began teaching at Ivy Tech in the Office Administration Program as adjunct faculty in 2011. She was awarded the Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence in Instruction in 2013 and transitioned to full time in the Institute in August 2013.

Prior to joining Ivy Tech full time, Coltharp was an entrepreneur, running Court House Express, a courier service for attorneys and was employed at Indiana State University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in digital media communication and a master’s degree in leadership development from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.

"My education changed my life, and I wanted to be a part of that role for others, especially non-traditional students, like myself," said Coltharp.

Classes start August 25! Find more information and apply free of charge at IvyTech.edu/IvyInstitute.
