Ivy Tech to Host National Coalition of Advanced Technology Centers Summer Workshop

Ivy Tech Corporate College is set to host more than 50 attendees of the National Coalition of Advanced Technology Center’s (NCATC) Summer Workshop in Terre Haute, IN, on June 12-14, 2013.

“Advanced technology centers such as Ivy Tech must evolve rapidly to meet the human resource needs of businesses. Sharing our state-of-the-art programs and facilities with other ATCs and learning from them in return help us to stay ahead of the curve and remain on the forefront of rebuilding the U.S. economy,” said Matt Bell, president of Ivy Tech Corporate College.

"NCATC is thrilled to have our workshop hosted by Ivy Tech Corporate College. A long-time member of the Coalition network, Ivy Tech brings many advanced technology-oriented best practices to the workforce and economic development initiatives in their region. We are delighted that they will be sharing those best practices with attendees from 'Hawaii-to-Florida-to-Maine'," said J. Craig McAtee, executive director of NCATC.

Each organization is celebrating a milestone in 2013. NCATC was founded 25 years ago while Ivy Tech Community College began teaching students 50 years ago. Ivy Tech—Wabash Valley was the first chartered region of Indiana’s statewide community college system.

“NCATC has been a great partner for Ivy Tech for over 20 years. Our faculty and staff have gained countless ideas from NCATC collaboration, helping us to successfully address a wide variety of opportunities,” said Dr. Ann Valentine, chancellor of Ivy Tech—Wabash Valley.

Attendees will convene at Ivy Tech’s Terre Haute main campus where they’ll hear from Valentine, Bell, Gary Morris, president and COO of Clabber Girl and a panel including Claudia Tanoos, vice president of Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation, Gary Brown, human resources manager at Bemis Company and Bryan Jackson, human resources manager at Taghleef Industries. Following breakout sessions with Ivy Tech faculty and Corporate College representatives, attendees will tour Ivy Tech’s Center for Workforce Development and Sony DADC or Advics and CSN.
