Family Fun at Ivy Techs Matter & Motion on March 22

From touring an ambulance to play acting at Ivy Improv!, learning is fun for everyone at the 14th annual Matter & Motion community event on Saturday, March 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ivy Tech Community College—Wabash Valley, 8000 South Education Drive in Terre Haute.

This family event is open to everyone in the community and features exhibits, educational activities and games designed to highlight technology, education, science and health programs at Ivy Tech. Community organizations will also be on hand to share in the fun.  Just some of the activities and demonstrations include:
  • A Teddy Bear Clinic where medical personnel can give your bear a check-up
  • Fingerprinting by the Vigo County Sheriff’s Department
  • Explore a surgical environment
  • Visit the slime room
  • X-ray your favorite toy
  • Racing games, including solar and salt water cars
  • Fire safety house shows how to survive should a fire happen at home
  • Arts, crafts and coloring
  • Puzzles and games including duck pond and fish bowl toss

Bring your furry friends and join in, “Animal Frenzy,” outdoor activities being planned by Indiana State’s Leadership Learning Community in support of Ivy Tech and the Terre Haute Humane Society partnership.  T-shirts will be on sale during the event for just $10 to benefit the campaign to co-locate the Terre Haute Humane Society/shelter operations and Ivy Tech’s veterinary health education programs in the former Doughmakers building in the southern Vigo County Industrial Park.

Bake goods and food concessions will be available for sale.  Music from HI-99 and the WTHI-TV Weather Crew will add to the festivities. Mark your calendars!  The event is free and open to the public.
