Single mom balances school and family
Kimberly Graves, Office Manager, Business Administration-Human Resources

“I decided to go back to school part-time; I was working full time as a single mom of three kids. My internship was with this company and I really enjoyed it. I have experience from previous jobs, but my Ivy Tech classes helped a lot because I needed to know Human Resources law, Department of Transportation files, since this is an industrial contracting firm. I run all aspects of the office and utilize everything I learned a Ivy Tech. I’m so thankful for Ivy Tech; it’s made a huge difference in my life. I make a better salary than I ever have before. I would advise high school graduates considering careers to really look at Human Resources. By the year 2010 many of the Baby Boomer generation will be retiring and that will create jobs in almost every field, but HR will be in especially high demand because all the new hires to replace the Boomers will have to be processed through HR.”
