Architecture graduate likes job's variety
Venus Hensley, Architecture

“I was tired of jobs that didn’t challenge me. I was determined to get the Ivy Tech degree in two years and I wanted a high GPA. I did that and was president of Phi Theta Kappa (honorary society).

I’m responsible for matching production to original specs. Everything is done in a solid model environment, computerized 3-dimensional. We check everything before production, modeling the assembly, looking for interference, doing some of our own tooling. My training at Ivy Tech helped me become more analytical and detail-oriented, which you must be in this field. There’s always something new in this job, from first concept on. I also work with the sales department on cost quotes. I only see more growth in this field. I may decide in the future to get into sales, engineering or quality control.”
