Disability Support Services Policy Statement

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana seeks to provide effective services and accommodations for qualified individuals with documented disabilities. Sources of documentation will include Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS), state or federal governmental agencies, licensed physicians and psychologists, secondary educational institutions, or other sources deemed appropriate by Disability Support Services (DSS). The type of documentation will depend upon the nature of the disability.

It is the student's responsibility to contact the campus DSS representative to request accommodations; any information shared will be kept confidential unless the student authorizes release and exchange of specified information. Requests for accommodations and documentation of disability must be received at least one month prior to enrollment to the academic term for which services are requested. Some requests will require more time.

The purpose of DSS throughout Ivy Tech is to provide opportunities for equal access in college programs, services, and activities. Individuals also are encouraged to seek funding for post-secondary education through community and governmental agencies. Each college campus is enriched through the contributions of all its members.
