Ivy Tech Community College
Disability Support Services Our Disability Support Services staff seeks to ensure that all students receive the opportunity to learn to their fullest abilities. Our services include providing note-takers, interpreters, and scribes, enlarged textbooks, extended testing times, counseling, and referrals to community agencies. We arrange optimal classroom seating (placement, as well as types of chairs and desks).

Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made to ensure access to academic programs, services, and employment in accordance with section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

College programs and facilities are designed to be accessible to students with disabilities. Each campus has designated parking and special restroom facilities for these students. Support services also aid students with disabilities with career planning, financial aid, personal counseling and placement. Our staff works with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and other service agencies to help students with disabilities access local community resources.

If you have a disability, it’s your responsibility to contact the campus Disability Support Services representative to request accommodations. Any information you share is kept confidential unless you authorize release and exchange of specified information. Requests for accommodations and documentation of disability must be received one month before enrolling for the next academic term. Some requests take additional time to fill. We’ll make every effort to provide reasonable accommodations in a timely manner.

For more information, review our online guide, ACCESS: A Guide for Students, Faculty, and Staff. It defines disabilities, contains a question-and-answer section, and also describes various types of accommodations. You may also contact the Office of Disability Support Services for a copy.
