If you require more than two Academic Skills Advancement courses after taking the COMPASS placement test, you will not be admitted to the USIvy program. However, you may pursue regular admission at either college. If you choose to attend Ivy Tech, you will be considered a regular transfer applicant and must meet transfer student criteria when applying to USI.
If I do not qualify for USIvy because of GPA, what does that mean?
If you are not qualified for USIvy because of GPA, you can still pursue a degree at Ivy Tech and apply as a regular transfer student to USI. You will also have to meet transfer student application criteria when you apply to USI.
What terms must I meet to stay in the USIvy program?
You must maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA throughout the program
You must successfully complete 24 credit hours in a calendar year of three consecutive terms
What if I hae been enrolled at Ivy TEch, USI or another accredited college?
Students who complete college courses for dual-credit while in high school may be eligible for USIvy. Students who have taken classes at any accredited college post high school graduation are not eligible for USIvy.
What if I fail to meet the terms required for the USIvy program?
If you fail to meet the required terms of the USIvy program, you can still transfer to USI as a regular transfer, provided you meet the transfer student application criteria.
If I graduate from Ivy Tech with a degree in a specific field that requires a separate USI application (i.e. Social Work), does that mean I am is guaranteed acceptance into that USI articulated academic program?
No. Some USI programs, such as Education, Social Work, and Nursing, require separate applications. Some programs also require references, specific GPAs, and criminal history checks. Admission to USI programs with competitive admission standards cannot be guaranteed.
What if I want to pursue a program that does not have a transfer agreement with Ivy Tech?
Students who decide to pursue a program that does not have an Ivy Tech transfer agreement with USI, will be advised on a case-by-case basis. What if I enroll at Ivy Tech just to take prerequisites for a USI competitive entrance program?
If you enroll at Ivy Tech just to take prerequisites for a USI competitive entrance program, you would not qualify for the USIvy program since you will most likely not be completing a degree at Ivy Tech. Any student who is taking prerequisites for a USI competitive entrance health professions program needs to be advised by the USI Transfer Coordinator (see contact information above) and a USI Health Professions representative.
Is there a fee to apply?
No. There is no fee to apply for USIvy. However, there is a $25 non-refundable application fee that must be paid to the USI Office of Admission at the time of enrollment at USI.
How will this affect my financial aid?
If you have any questions regarding how your financial aid would be affected by participating in the USIvy program, please contact your local Ivy Tech Financial Aid Department.
