New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is mandatory for all new degree seeking students and degree seeking students who have been out of school for two years or more.  You must complete orientation before you take the Accuplacer assessment or register for classes.  Before you attend orientation you MUST have completed the following steps:

•Submitted your admission application

•Received your student ID number

•Created your Campus Connect Account


In-Person New Student Orientation:

Sessions will last about 2.5 hours, and you must arrive prior to the start time to check in.  You must be able to stay for the entire session. Students may bring ONE guest: a parent or significant other (no children, please!). Please do not bring another new Ivy Tech student with you as your guest. Every Ivy Tech student must make their own reservation.

* If you are a visiting student from another university taking only a couple of classes and transferring back to your university new student orientation is not mandatory.



Every college orientation is unique in what it offers its students and ours is no exception.

At orientation you:

• Will learn about student support and services available

• Will hear financial aid information

• Will take a tour of campus

• Will be able to register for classes after orientation *

*To register for classes you must take the Accuplacer assessment or waive the Accuplacer assessment. Waivers are met with the following criteria: SAT/ACT scores at a certain level (scores are only good for 4 years), previous 100 level college credits from an accredited university (classes are good for 10 years if you never received a degree and 15 years if you received a degree). You MUST provide Ivy Tech with a copy of SAT/ACT scores or previous college transcripts to officially waive the Accuplacer.
