Basic American Sign Language (ASL)
An expert in the field will provide a solid foundation for communicating with the hearing impaired using hand signs.

Photography
Portrait, sports, landscape and event photography will be discussed and the visual aspects of photography will be explored so students will understand what makes a good picture and why. There will be weekly assignments and students will be responsible for film and processing costs. An SLR (interchangeable lenses) camera is required (film or digital).

Conversational Japanese
Commonly used vocabulary, useful expression, and correct pronunciation will be covered in a fun interactive way. Japanese culture will also be explored.

Conversational Spanish
Even if you've never said so much as "Hola", this class will provide you with the skills you need to get started. Commonly used vocabulary, useful phrases and correct pronunciation will be covered in a fun interactive way. Hispanic culture will be explored.

Hands-On Culinary Delights
Join Ivy Tech at the Ohio River Valley Food Venture for our exciting culinary classes. No matter what your taste or interest, we have a class for you. Learn tricks to the low-carb lifestyle and innovative ways to use vegetables for sandwiches, pastas and casseroles for the healthier eating experience. Learn to use spices to enhance your food without salt. Explore new ways to jazz up your soups, stews and casseroles. Learn the fundamentals of baking and decorating cakes...and many more. Cosmetology Continuing Education
Ivy Tech provides continuing education courses for licensed Cosmetologists and Nail Technicians. Licensees are required to obtain 16 hours of continuing education once every four years. Classes include the following: Indiana License Law, Communicable Diseases, Disinfecting, Sanitation and Sterilization.

Creative Fun with Computers
Create personalized greeting cards, note cards, invitations, return labels, business cards and calendars using American Greeting Create-a-Card Select 6 software. Lean how to personalize calendars using digital photographs of family and friends. This class is for the beginner with little or no knowledge of computers.

How to buy & sell on eBay®
In 2004, over $20 billion in merchandise was bought and sold on eBay®. You can be part of this phenomenon and have the opportunity to list items for auctions and participate in the bidding. This class offers instruction and tips for effectively using eBay® and how to register for secure online purchasing and receipt of funds.

Computer Basics
This course will prepare the individual with the basic working knowledge of the microcomputer. Hardware and software terms and procedures are discussed. Successful completion of this course will prepare the student to purse other software packages in depth.

Courses are hands-on, slow paced and will make your introduction to computers smoother and more effective.

Over 50 Computer Basics 1
Students will learn computer parts and terminology and will acquire basic computer skills while learning about the windows environment and the Internet.

Over 50 Internet & Email
Presents the basic concepts and terms related to the Internet. This course is designed to give students an introductory look at the Internet as well as a basic familiarity with its most commonly used features.

Over 50 MS Word
This class introduces the concepts and features of word processing using Microsoft Word. This course will teach the student how to enter, edit and format text and graphics.
