Dropping/Adding Courses

Courses may be dropped in writing or orally. Contact the Office of the Registrar to withdraw by phone, or submit a completed Course Change Request form to the Office of Student Affairs. Simply ceasing to attend class sessions does not constitute withdrawal from a course.

Courses can be added only during the first two weeks of a regular 16-week semester, and the instructor's permission is required to add a course after the second week of the term.

Students who drop a class or classes during the first four weeks of a regular 16-week semester are eligible for refunds per the refund information. No refunds will be issued after the fourth week of the regular 16-week semester.

For a class running on the regular 16-week semester schedule, a student will receive a grade of "W" if a class is dropped by the end of the week in which 75 percent of the class' scheduled meetings have been held. For the regular 16-week semester, deadlines to withdraw and receive a grade of "W" are listed in the College calendar.

A student who ceases to attend class after those respective withdrawal deadlines will receive a grade commensurate with his or her completion of course requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: Dropping and/or adding classes can affect the amount of financial aid a student receives and, in some cases, can result in cancellation of financial aid. Therefore, when dropping or adding classes, it's important for the student to check with the Financial Aid Office to determine whether his/her financial aid will be affected.

For more information, contact the Office of the Registrar.
