Students in Historic Preservation Trades Technology can be a part of the growing historic preservation field. Skilled craftspeople are needed in all areas of the historic trades.

Employment can be found in a variety of areas: restoration trade companies, artisans, nonprofit museum sites or organizations, federal agencies, or by establishing one’s own business. Students may also elect to apprentice under a master craftsperson or advance their academic training toward an undergraduate degree. Opportunities are endless and are available within Indiana and beyond.

Careers in the field can include:

  • Restoration Carpenter
  • Historic Preservation Specialist
  • Specialized Traditional Trades Artisan
  • Historian
  • Restoration Project Manager

Certification: Certificates are sequences of technical and professional courses. Certificates provide access to targeted, short-term workforce training and require the completion of all five courses in the program. Certificate programs generally take less than one year to complete.
