Beginning in fall 2008, nursing students will have access to training on advanced patient simulators known as “SimMan”. SimMan allows for rehearsal of responses, team organization, problem identification, and problem solving. Students are provided with a challenging learning environment that ensures higher levels of competence in clinical and critical thinking skills and confidence when providing care to patients. Students are able to administer medications to SimMan and initiate actual responses. It allows students to make decisions that have life or death consequences in real life.
The use of the patient simulators provide opportunities to experience cases and situations with real time feedback not often encountered in the clinical setting.
