Transferring College Credit into Ivy Tech Many students come to Ivy Tech having already attended another institution of higher education. Ivy Tech accepts college credits earned at regionally accredited institutions if these credits are relevant to the student’s course of study at Ivy Tech and if they are less than ten years old. The student merely needs to provide a valid transcript from the other institution to their Ivy Tech advisor at the time the student is registering for classes.

Transfer of Ivy Tech courses to Other Institutions in Indiana Most of the colleges and universities in Indiana accept some Ivy Tech courses in transfer. There are some Ivy Tech Associate Degrees which transfer on a “2 + 2” basis to some other colleges, meaning the Ivy Tech graduate would start out as a junior at that institution and need only two more years of course work to earn their bachelor’s degree.

As transfer agreements change continually, the transfer information provided by Ivy Tech cannot be considered a guarantee of transfer. The student must always contact the college or university to which they wish to transfer Ivy Tech credit to ensure successful transference of credit.

Course Transfer Information The acceptance of academic credit from another institution is the responsibility and decision solely of the receiving institution. Ivy Tech can make no guarantees concerning what credits another institution will or will not accept in transfer. Students who are considering transferring to another institution are encouraged to discuss the matter with the institution to which they wish to transfer Ivy Tech credits.

The information to the right represents the signed articulation (transfer) agreements Ivy Tech has either for the whole college statewide or for the Madison campus specifically. As articulation is a dynamic and continuing process, Ivy Tech cannot guarantee that the following may not contain errors or omissions. This is why it is very important for the student to contact the school to which they wish to transfer course credits.

If you have any questions about transferring course, please contact the Office of the Registrar at 800-403-2190 x 4130 or 812-265-2580 x 4130.

These pages are a general guide and should be used for reference only. These pages are subject to change and correction. The receiving institution makes the final decision regarding transfer credit and related requirements (e.g., grade requirements) and should be contacted for current transfer status.
