Franklin University (located in Columbus, Ohio) has developed an innovative “3 + 1” plan for Ivy Tech graduates. Students who graduate from Ivy Tech can be admitted to Franklin University as a junior and can then take their third year of course work at Ivy Tech. This third year is called the “bridge”. The fourth year of work is completed by internet-based courses. Thus, the student can earn a bachelor’s degree and seldom, if ever, be required to leave the Southeast Indiana area.
