About the Region & its Committment to Distance Education:

Ivy Tech Northcentral region includes 3 campuses: South Bend, Warsaw and Elkhart campuses. North Central region is committed to providing high quality online courses and degrees that fit your lifestyle. While online courses and fully online programs may not fit the learning styles of many students who desire to come to campus, online courses are perfect for people who need an alternative way of achieving their educational goals.

Online Learning:

The North Central region has three complete online degrees and roughly 120 online courses you can choose from. To see the complete list of online degrees now available, look here. To search all available online courses offered from any Ivy Tech campus, please visit the online course search page. If you've never taken an online course before, you might want to check your readiness for online courses before you register, by going to the orientation site.

Live 2-Way Video Learning:

In addition to our online course offerings, we also offer other distance learning opportunities. Ivy Tech offers many live distance two-way video courses that you can take from another Ivy Tech campus or another Indiana college. All campuses in the North Central region support this distance education format. Contact your local Ivy Tech campus to investigate possible courses.

As well, if you are interested in a live two-way video course, you can search here: select a campus (South Bend) and from the 'Delivery Format' drop-down menu, select 'IP Video'.

Distance Requirements & Recommendations:

You are not required to have a home computer and Internet connection, but for anytime, anywhere online learning, that becomes the most efficient way for you to take the course. All Ivy Tech campuses have open labs and libraries to assist those who do not have a home computer/Internet service. It is a requirement that you have regular and consistent access to Internet service in order to succeed in an online course. Are you a computer-saavy learner? Do you surf the web? It's important to have some computer and Internet knowledge before committing to online learning. Check your technical skills.

Anyone Can Take Ivy Tech Courses:

Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is an open-access, accredited state college with the North Central Association, and many courses and degrees transfer to other colleges and universities. Check with your local Ivy Tech or university before you enroll to make sure our courses will transfer.

Open Access means that everyone with a high school degree or GED may register for courses and programs--however, if you want to take more than a few courses, you must arrange to take a placement exam which determines your skill level in English and Math. Student Affairs will aid you in this.
