SOUTH BEND, IND. (Jan. 2, 2008) – Ivy Tech Community College-Warsaw will introduce the Remnant Trust to Kosciusko County at a community reception on Friday, Jan. 25 at 5:00 p.m.  The reception will be held in rooms 101 and 102 of Ivy Tech’s Warsaw campus, 3755 Lake City Highway.  After the community reception, the Remnant Trust will be housed in the campus’s library.

The Remnant Trust is a public educational foundation that shares an actively growing collection of original and first edition works dealing with the topics of liberty and dignity with some pieces dating as early as 1250. The Trust makes this collection available to colleges, universities and other organizations for use by students, faculty, scholars and the general public. Those exposed are encouraged to touch, feel and read the originals.

According to Tim Keyes, Ivy Tech-Warsaw librarian, “The public may come and view the items at the Ivy Tech Warsaw library.  Staff will be available to answer questions about the items, as well as allow visitors to actually handle the items themselves.  For information on hours of availability, the Trust documents, or to schedule a group visit, visit our Remnant Trust Web site at http://www.ivytech.edu/library/southbend/remnant-trust/.”

The documents featured at Ivy Tech-Warsaw were chosen to follow themes of history and government, freedom of expression and religious diversity, with displays dating from 1250 to 1949.

Included in the collection on display are copies of the Magna Charta, “Utopia” by Thomas More, the Declaration of Independence, “Common Sense” by Thomas Paine, Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelly, “Leaves of Grass” by Walt Whitman and “Animal Farm” by George Orwell.  A complete list of the items that will be at Ivy Tech-Warsaw can be found at http://www.ivytech.edu/library/southbend/remnant-trust/document_list.html.
