IVY TECH-SOUTH BEND TO HOST BRIDGES OUT OF POVERTY WORKSHOP DEC. 18

 

SOUTH BEND, IND. (Nov. 12, 2007) – Ivy Tech Community College will host “Applying Bridges Out of Poverty Concepts: A Workshop for Professionals Who Work with Clients from Poverty” on Tuesday, Dec. 18 at the South Bend campus, 220 Dean Johnson Blvd.  Registration is 8-8:30 a.m. and the workshop is 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.  Lunch is on your own from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

“Applying Bridges Concepts” is a workshop for professionals and community members already familiar with Bridges Out of Poverty concepts who want to learn more about the language experiences, cognitive issues and barriers to change faced by people in generational poverty.  Participants will learn how to use mental models to communicate effectively and to assist clients from poverty to learn quickly, explore options and develop future stories.  Participants will also learn mediation, relationship building and mentoring skills.

The cost for registrations postmarked by Friday, Nov. 30 is $50.  The cost for registrations postmarked after that date is $75.  Registration fee includes materials and light morning/afternoon refreshments.  Participants are free for lunch on their own 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
