WARSAW, IND. (Sept. 4, 2007) –Ivy Tech Community College-Warsaw unveiled a sign on Friday at the location of their future home today. The property, located at the intersection of US 30 and 150 W (Silveus Crossing) in Warsaw, will be the site of Ivy Tech-Warsaw’s first permanent campus in the community.
Ivy Tech Community College has had a presence in the community since the late 1970s, but always in a borrowed or leased space. The lease for the current main facility at 3755 Lake City Highway will end in 2012, which underscores the importance of the need for the campus to relocate. The college is conducting a capital campaign in response to the community’s need for a permanent location in Warsaw. Approximately $1.6 million has been raised toward the college’s $2.8 million goal for land acquisition, equipment and technology for the new campus.
According to Ivy Tech Community College President Tom Snyder, “Ivy Tech Community College and the state of Indiana see the city of Warsaw and Kosciusko County as extremely important to economic success. The Warsaw community is fortunate to have the resources to help Ivy Tech fulfill its goal of having a permanent home in Warsaw. Many community members have worked tirelessly and we have received some very generous donations as we continue toward our fundraising goal of $2.8 million. We still have work to do to reach that goal.”
Ivy Tech Community College is the nation’s largest statewide community college system with a single accreditation and the state’s second largest public post-secondary institution with over 110,000 students enrolled annually. Ivy Tech has 23 campuses and nearly 100 learning centers located throughout Indiana. It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering degrees and certificates that lead to good paying jobs and credits that transfer to other Indiana colleges and universities, allowing students to pursue bachelors' degrees. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
