Ivy Tech Community College Announces New Position Appointments
Community College to perform national search for Provost

INDIANAPOLIS--Ivy Tech Community College President Tom Snyder announced new position appointments and the reorganization of the college’s central office, which includes a national search for a provost.

The new organizational structure will consist of the Office of the Provost, the Department of Workforce and Economic Development and the Office of the President.  This new structure will replace what was commonly referred to as the college’s central office

The college has engaged in a national search for a provost, a new position for the college.  The provost will serve as the chief academic officer and will provide college-wide leadership in the development and implementation of the academic strategic plan.  In addition the Office of the Provost will house the college’s student affairs, institutional research and grant administration. Vice President of Administration William Morris has been serving as the interim-provost and will continue to serve in that role until the national search has concluded.

Snyder announced that two current chancellors will also serve as vice provosts.  Wabash Valley (main campus Terre Haute) Chancellor Jeff Pittman has been named vice provost for Distance Education and Richmond Chancellor James Steck has been named vice provost for Facilities Planning.

Snyder appointed Dr. Marnia Kennon as vice provost for Academic Affairs and Dr. Benjamin Young as vice provost for Student Affairs & Diversity.  Both have held similar vice president roles with the college.  Dr. Rebecca Nickoli was named associate vice provost for Institutional Effectiveness & Grant Administration.

The Department of Workforce and Development will be headed by a senior vice president.  A review of internal and external candidates will be conducted with the goal of securing a proven leader with extensive workforce development experience in Indiana.  The college currently has over 180 workforce development professionals providing over one million hours of accelerated, certified training.  In addition, the department oversees the college’s apprenticeship program which enrolls over 5,000 students a year.  Current Vice President of Workforce and Economic Development Dr. Robert Jeffs will serve as the acting department leader until the position is filled.

The Office of the President will include all other functional areas of the college including finance, administration, technology, marketing/communications, development, external affairs and engagement, professional development and minority outreach.

Snyder also appointed former Executive Director of Marketing/Communications Jeff Fanter as vice president of Marketing/Communications.  Jeff Terp, who has served as the college’s vice president for External Relations, has been named vice president of engagement.  And it was announced that Chief Technology Officer Tony Harte will report to Snyder within the Office of the President.

Snyder assumed the role of president at Ivy Tech Community College on July 1.  Ivy Tech Community College is the nation’s largest statewide community college system with a single accreditation and the state’s second largest public post-secondary institution with over 110,000 students enrolled annually.  Ivy Tech has 23 campuses and nearly 100 learning centers located throughout Indiana.  It serves as the state's engine of workforce development, offering degrees and certificates that lead to good paying jobs and credits that transfer to other Indiana colleges and universities, allowing students to pursue bachelors' degrees. It is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
